Why We Exist & The People Behind The Curtain

Clariata exists for one reason – to help people live more fulfilling and exciting lives.

Clariata’s Founder, Mark Casella, left the world of financial advising over two decades ago because he was tired of helping clients grow their wealth while watching their passion for life slowly fade away. “What good does it do to accumulate all this wealth if all it produces is a decline in happiness?” he wondered. “There has to be something more I can do to help my clients live a more meaningful and fulfilling life…”

And there was – Mark founded a consulting firm designed to help his clients better connect their resources to the results they wanted to achieve. That was 2005.

In the time since his approach has grown to be the most widely used legacy development and planning methodology in the country. It’s been used by more HNW and UHNW individuals and families than any other methodology around.

Now, his 30+ years of experience and wisdom in building deeper relationships that generate life-changing results are available to you through Clariata.

Meet The Team

Our Origin

TOM CHANGED MY LIFE.

HE MAY CHANGE YOURS TOO.

Tom was a successful real estate developer. I was his financial advisor. Tom was worth over $100 million and quite happy with his returns.

As his financial advisor, I had big ideas for how he could grow his wealth.

He, however, had little interest in my big plans for managing his portfolio.

One day, he caught me off guard when he said, “Mark, what I really want is for my kids to be happy, and I want them to want to be together as a family. All I see now is that they’re not getting along and don’t seem happy with what’s going on in their lives.”

I desperately wanted to help Tom. But how? At the time, I only spoke the language of investing. I didn’t have the right tools or know how to help someone like Tom.

I was devastated.

Doctors and lawyers have their one – their one patient they could have saved or their one case they could have won…if only.

Tom was my one – the one I could have helped if only I had the right skills and tools.

Tom’s dream of keeping his family together and my inability to help him achieve his goals lit a fire in me.

It inspired me to leave my lucrative Wall Street job and start a legacy planning consulting firm called Coppertree, which I still run today.

Though I didn't know it then, it also planted the seeds for Clariata.

Our (r)Evolution

FROM ADVISOR TO ACTIVATOR –

A PROVEN, SUCCESSFUL SHIFT

I had a critical 'ah-ha' moment – the more money my clients had, the less they wanted to discuss investing.

Of course, I was most interested in talking to them about how they would succeed by investing in my latest and greatest ideas.

However, my wealthiest clients seemed more interested in the success of their families, communities, or philanthropic pursuits.

They were passionately engaging with their family enterprises. THIS was their investment platform. This was their livelihood, what defined them, what they were focused on, and this is what they wanted to talk about.

If these people I admired and respected didn't want to talk about investing and portfolio management, neither did I.

I was more than happy to talk to them about their family enterprises – but how? How do I get them to open up and share these deeper, more emotionally charged efforts and issues with me? I would be useless if the conversation didn't involve numbers, returns, and yields.

I knew I had to figure this out if I wanted to help my clients use what they had to achieve what they wanted.

It was time for me to (r)Evolve!

I needed a new tool kit – a whole new skill set.

I had to figure out how to move out of the land of advisor-speak and into the world of future-speak. And that's just what I did.

I read every book about managing group dynamics, family enterprise leadership, organization development, behavioral finance, multi-generational legacy planning, family office management, and succession planning I could get my hands on. (Whew!)

I also enrolled in Notre Dame's MBA program.

I was determined to find a way to help families focus on their journeys and their legacies rather than their investments. (And this was no easy task since there wasn't a certification or degree program for developing such a skill set. I was entirely on my own.)

I was confident I would find a way or make one, as Churchill would famously say. I had the skills. I had the experience. I had the desire.

And I wasn't just going to be creating solutions for other people. I would be creating solutions for myself, my family, and all those like us who owned an enterprise or other shared asset like a vacation property, family foundation, or family office meant to be around for more than one or two generations. (I couldn't think of a better way to honor my father and all his work in founding and leading our family business for more than 40 years.)

My success was mission-critical. I had seen amazingly successful family enterprises crash and burn because the owners didn't think they needed to do the hard work of planning for the future.

Perhaps there was something I could do to change the outcome for families who haven't thoughtfully considered what needs to be done to connect their past to their present so incredible futures could be created.

Clariata is the culmination of this quest, and I created it to share everything I've learned from the moment I stepped into the world of investing to today.

That's more than four decades of professional experience PLUS my perspective as a second-generation member of a business-owning family who's married to someone from the third generation of such a family PLUS my perspective as a company founder and a wealth creator.

Is it time for you to (r)Evolve?

Clariata is the world's first wealth activation system and the only proven resource guidance system that can help you move from providing passive information (advising) to activating or putting available resources to work to achieve specific goals and dreams.

The tools, technology, and trade secrets you can access within the Clariata environment are not available anywhere else, which is why Clariata is the country's most widely used legacy planning methodology.

Shifting from advising and managing to activating has been one of the smartest, most fulfilling moves I've ever made. It's why I got into this space in the first place – to help people use what they have to achieve more of what they want.

Is it time for you to join the r(E)volution?
